Additional Comments:

We greatly appreciate your continued support of the accreditation process and are hopeful you may be able to assist your fellow educators who are hosting visiting teams during the Fall 2017 season.  Our team coordinators, who are working diligently to secure volunteers to serve on visiting teams, still have a small number of open positions for professional staff to serve as members of these teams listed below.  Thank you in advance for your assistance.

PLEASE address all responses to Donna Spencer-Wilson at  If you need to speak with someone directly call 781-425-7719.  We look forward to your reply.  Thank you.

As this is a group e-mail please understand that we will accept the earliest response and may only place one educator from each school on a team.  A prompt reply would enhance being added to the team.

Travel by automobile (mileage and tolls) and lodging expenses will be covered by the host school.  All rooms are single occupancy.  Opening meetings with members of your team will begin 10-11 a.m. on Sunday and you will be expected to remain until shortly after the school day ends on Wednesday.

Any personal or professional connections with the host school or residence in the town or one which borders it by you or a family member constitutes conflict of interest and, therefore, precludes serving.

Congratulations to the freshman football team for defeating Lunenburg 30-0.  These are the same student athletes who were undefeated last year as eighth graders.

Class Meetings – Staff are asked to give at least one week notice when requesting meetings, etc., that will take students out of class.

Blood Drive – Stephanie Rondeau is looking for teachers to help out with supervising the blood drive on Wednesday 9/27 during periods 1, 2, 3, and 4.  It's very easy and student leaders will also be on hand.  Contact Stephanie at extension 228.  Thank you in advance for any assistance you can give.

The blood drive is accessible to age-appropriate students and staff, and open to the public.

Puerto Rico – The world language department is sponsoring a trip to Puerto Rico during April vacation, 2018. We are not in need of chaperones, but if any staff member would like to travel with the group, there are a few spots available. The price of the trip is $1929 and includes transportation, 4 nights hotel, and two meals a day. Flyers will be put in your mailboxes. If you have any questions, please see Ophelia (237) or Stephanie (228).

Open House – Murdock High School will host its initial open house on Tuesday, September 19th at 6:00 p.m.  The introductory part of the program will take place in the auditorium.  Families will be welcomed by administration and afforded the opportunity to complete a school evaluation survey which is required by the upcoming New England Association of Schools and Colleges accreditation process.  The technology department will provide iPads for this ten-minute survey.  A successful accreditation, which will take place next fall, is extremely important for the school’s rating and market value of homes in Winchendon.

Teachers from each of Murdock’s academic departments will have displays and presentations available in the cafeteria.  National Honor Society students will be conducting tours of the facility throughout the evening.

Special thanks to Dunkin’ Donuts and Cumberland Farms for providing a gift basket and (5) $10 gift cards to be awarded to parents at the open house.

Class Meetings – The sophomore class will meet with a Josten’s representative on Thursday at 8:50 a.m. in the auditorium to hear a presentation on class rings.  Jostens will also meet with seniors regarding caps and gowns at 9:25 a.m.  Immediately following in the auditorium, seniors will be afforded an opportunity to participate in tuition-free online courses through Mount Wachusett Community College.  They will have the opportunity to earn college credit which can be applied to MWCC or other universities.  This meeting will take the rest of the period.

Progress Reports – First term progress reports will be available on the parent portal, with hard copies distributed to students on September 28th.

Professional Development Day – Friday, September 29th will be no school for students and a professional day for staff.
