Students do not have to report to school is they do not have a mid-year exam.  Assessments may be presentations or be project-based.  Students will be presented with rubrics if these forms of assessment are used.

Students who leave after the first exam or arrive for only the second exam should provide a note from home to the main office.

Dismissal will be at 11:30 and lunch will be served Tuesday, January 16 through Friday, January 19.

Following is the exam schedule.  Students must remain in their testing room for the entire one hour and forty-five minutes.  Only emergency passes should be provided during testing.

Should we experience a snow day during exam week, similar to our daily schedule those exams would be held the next day of school.  Friday, January 19 would become an exam day for blocks E and F.

ELECTRONICS POLICY/CELL PHONE USE

Cell phones/electronic devices may serve as an outstanding instructional tool and learning resource if used appropriately. We encourage our staff members and our students to use electronics and other 21st century devices to supplement instruction and learning.  Always remember, the use of cell phones/electronic devices in school is a privilege, not a right.  In order to preserve the teaching and learning environment, this document is to clarify the cell phone/electronic devices policy for Murdock High School.

The policy is:

  • Cell phones/electronic devices may only be used for educational purposes in the classroom setting at the teacher’s discretion.
  • If a student wishes to use their device for non-educational purposes, they may only do so before the morning bell rings, during lunch, and after school….Monday through Friday.
  • Cell phones/electronic devices must be turned OFF and put away, along with headphones, before you enter any classroom, office, library, hallway, locker room, lab, or auditorium.
  • Once inside the classroom, office, library, hallway, locker room, lab, or auditorium, students must store their cell phones/electronic devices and headphones in a location that is not visible to the teacher or other students, even though they are OFF. Students may only turn on and use the device with teacher approval.
  • If a cell phone/electronic device rings or vibrates, is used for any reason without teacher permission, is visible anytime during class, is used without permission on campus during class time, a staff member may confiscate the device.
  • Refusal to surrender your phone when asked is considered defiance. Defiance may result in disciplinary consequences, including suspension. Parents will be contacted.
  • Parents/guardians are asked not to call or text their students' cell phones during school hours. Emergency messages for students should be called into the main office (978-297-1256) during the school day.
  • Students assume all risk of loss, damage, or theft of their electronic device(s).
  • All manners in which any electronic device is used must fully comply with the Winchendon Public Schools' Acceptable Use Policy.
  • iPads, cell phones and other devices may never be used in the restrooms or locker rooms.
